Bird on the moon . com is back! So long, emergency blog. I barely knew ye.
Still awaiting word from the Coding Gods as to when and how my MT install will be resurrected. I'm weary to post anything of great import here to this temp blog as once I'm fixed I'll probably forget about it. But, the longer it takes, the less I can hold back the content.

Big Pimpin' Tech Support

It seems the only real option, other than the potentially deadly of deleting the MT build completely, doing a fresh reinstall, and the sketchy importing of entries is to buy some tech support for the gang at SixApart. I don't quite trust myself enough to engage in post-roulette. Hopefully, I'll get some answers and be back up soon.

In non-tech related news, I've decided to go back to school for a Bachelor's in Human Services Management. I've been doing it long enough, may as well have some paper behind me.

Security breach?

That's a possibility... 40 spam comments came in today, and all miraculously appreoved themselves. Any ideas, please send comments/suggestions to jay AT birdonthemoon DOT com. Thanks for bearing with, everyone.

repairs in progress?

Tech folks are on the trail, even Anil Dash from SixApart has jumped in to offer his help. Hopefully, we'll be back online soon. While having blogger as a back-up is nice, it just ain't the same...

uninitialized value

Yup, still down as of this morning. Cron has been throwing me bucket-fulls of error emails , so I don't have a clue here how big this problem is. An ask.mefi thread hasn't dredged up any clues, and the thread at MT support is gathering dust to the sound of sleeping silicone atoms. Should you have stumbled in here with a geeky heart and astride a white mare, longing to perform heroic service, here be the bugs:

1. Began seeing this earlier in the day:
Use of uninitialized value in hash element at lib/MT/ line 128. (repeated 5 lines)

2. I attempted a rebuild after modifying my template, and got this:
Can't use an undefined value as a SCALAR reference at lib/MT/Template/ line 2204
Use of uninitialized value in list assignment at lib/MT/ObjectDriver/ line 155.
Use of uninitialized value in null operation at lib/MT/ObjectDriver/ line 175.
Use of uninitialized value in substr at lib/MT/ line 49.
Use of uninitialized value in hash element at lib/MT/ line 128. (repeated five lines)

3. I upgraded from 3.14 to 3.15 in an attempt to fix, no change.

4. My host server suggested deleting and reinstalling /lib/ and /extlib/, which I did, and nada. They don't believe it's a database problem (running MySQL), but I ran a repair function anyway on all the databases I use. Zilch-o.

5. Oddly, some simple functions, like deleting comments in the queue, go perfectly, while attempting a post/rebuild fail.
Thanks, regular readers, for waiting this one out with me. I'll post with my normal frequency to this slapdash shelter for last-minute minutiae.

Hold Tight

Lord knows what got my database's panties in a wad, but nothing can stop the music. I'll post here as a temporary means of spilling my eclectic beans. Sheesh, and yesterday the blog had just turned 2 and was approaching its 3000th post.
